We knew it was inevitable. We knew it would happen if a loss occurred. Still we hoped, and prayed that somehow the Vancouver Canucks could muster enough courage, determination and strife to bring a Stanley Cup to town.
Yeah that didn’t happen.
What did happen was a flat Vancouver team showed up to skate (or not skate) their way to a 4-0 loss and hand the Boston Bruins the cup after a 17 year wait for the over 100,000 fans who gathered outside Rogers Sports Arena in the downtown core.
I felt sick to my stomach personally, watching the game. Luongo was horrible in net and as usual didn’t show up for the final under pressure. The twins need to be operated on and separated as they just cannot pass to anyone but each other when they should.
Remember when Daniel got hurt? Henrik played awesome!
Furthermore Alain Vingneault should be fired but probably won’t be. Any coach who starts a goalie who has obviously displayed problems in the series and who refuses to call a time out during a playoff game to settle his team down, and who also refuses to dress 7 defensemen deserves to be in the EI line to pick up a check.
Bottom line the Canucks didn’t play well. They didn’t show up. They didn’t skate. Boston outshot and outplayed them and the Canucks didn’t work on figuring out a way to get the puck past net-minder Tim Thomas who had a great series.
So what is worse than the Canucks losing the Cup – yet again?
Well this for starters…
I am totally embarrassed to be Canadian right now. Okay I realize we lost. I realize the disappointment. But seriously, let’s use this as a reason to destroy buisnesses, hard working citizens, our friends and neighbors livelyhoods. Let’s tip a cop car, a truck and burn Bruins gear in the streets. Let’s show everyone just how classy we are.
The riot broke out before the last whistle went and it didn’t stop there. For several games over 100,000 fans gathered to cheer on Vancouver on Georgia Street. In 1994 there was an ugly riot in Vancouver after the Canucks lost game 7 to the New York Rangers.
Why can’t you guys grow up. Yes I said grow up!
I am a Canucks fan. I’m disappointed in my team. I am upset they didn’t play well, but for bloody hell – why destroy your own city over a hockey game? You should be supporting your team, win or lose. You should be feeling grateful. The Canucks gave us a good run, entertaining hockey and they just didn’t have what it took to win against Boston.
It’s just sick.
Congrats Boston on the win. You guys deserve it. Not all of us (Canuck fans) are whiners. You took the series, had a great run and brought the cup home after a 40 year drought. Good on you.
And to the Vancouver Canucks. You have nothing to be ashamed of man. You guys played well – just not so great this series. You suffered injuries, bad calls (won’t even get started on that) but you guys had the depth and drive to be champions all year, and I for one am proud of you!
And finally to Canuck fans. Cheer up. Hockey starts again in September and we get to do this roller coaster ride again. Won’t that be fun? So please, gather up your flammables, head home and quit trying to use the game loss as a reason to act like dinks and embarrass the rest of Canada with your display of violence that really just wasn’t needed.
Go Canucks Go!
