Recently I read a post over at Brian Gardner who shared his insight on losing subscribers after he bared pieces of his soul on his personal blog, and it got me wondering about my blog and my fellow bloggers. I mean let’s be honest, I love my readers. I admit it and I love reading the comments left on my blog and engaging with everyone. When someone unsubscribes from my readers list, does it sting a little? Actually no it doesn’t.
I do write for companies and share product reviews here at Rants n’ Rascals. I also share articles on parenting, raising a child with special needs and being married to a man who accidentally but conveniently forgets everything. But I also share my personal life, and if someone doesn’t like it they are free to move on.
As bloggers should we be worried about unsubscribers? Should we care if someone disagrees with us? I don’t care so much as I welcome a different opinion and I’m grateful for a platform where we can share our opinions on things with one another.
I’m a mom and I’m a blogger, I’m also a wife and a person who suffers from bipolar disorder. I have down days, days I need to vent, days I’m happy and want to share what I did with my kids, recipes I found useful, and I’m a business professional working for companies who compensate me for giving my honest opinion on their products.
I love who I am and what do, and writing here means everything to me. So if something I say leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, well just pop open a new tab and jump along. See the internet is like television. If you don’t like what you are watching — simply turn the channel.
