Get the Bare-Necessities with Disney’s Jungle Book Diamond Editon on Blu-Ray

Disney is launching one of my all time favorite movies on Blu-Ray/DVD Diamond Edition.  That’s right, the 1967 classic The Jungle Book is being released, chalk full of sing-a-long songs as you enjoy a tale that was inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s book. Mowgli the orphan boy, Baloo the bear and King Louie are in full-restored color and is one of Disney’s most favorite classics your family is sure to enjoy!

The Jungle Book Movie Synopsis:

In the jungle a little baby boy (Mowgli) is discovered by Bagheera, a black panther who quickly takes the child to a mother wolf to be raised by her pack until the boy reaches the age of 10.  Horror arises though when the wolf tribe learns that Shere Khan, a very large man-eating tiger has made his return to the jungle, and they decide that Mowgli must be returned to his own kind for his safety. Mowgli only knows the jungle, and wants to be part of the jungle forever.

Mowgli and King Louie

Mowgli’s adventures back tot he village are not without peril.  He gets hypnotized by Kaa, a large python, but Bagheera saves him, so all is good.  Mowgli meets a herd of elephants and then finally Baloo the bear, my favorite character in the book and movie who makes a promise to raise Mowgli as his very own and take him the rest of the way back to the village.  This journey leads the pair to King Louie and one of the most beloved songs from the movie of all. Watch below.

Shere Khan wants Mowgli and will stop at nothing to get the boy.  Eventually the two go head to head and the boy’s best friend Baloo is involved but I won’t tell you how. You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!

The Jungle Book is a wonderful tale of adventure, love, friendship, fear and the bond between animal and man that holds no boundaries. It’s about teaching ourselves anything is possible, and how all you need are the Bare-Necessities in life to get through. The Jungle Book was also the last film Walt Disney worked on, before he sadly passed away before the film’s launch. The man had a vision and love for films and it shows in this classic return brought to life in a Blu-Ray adventure for the entire family!

The Disney Store has so many wonderful products for the re-launch of the film. Some of my favorites include t-shirts, the coffee cup, puzzles, toys and games and a big plush of Baloo which I want for my bedroom. The characters are vivid and intriguing just as they were in the book, brought to life on the big screen, and the merchandise is inexpensive and something all kids and adults can collect and enjoy.  There are two Disney stores close to Vancouver.  One is in Burnaby and one is in Surrey.
