VH Sauce Sweet n’ Sour Meatballs Recipe!

We love VH Sauces!  Why you ask? Well to me it’s like Christmas in a bottle. I can go to my local store, choose a desired flavour for whatever dinner surprise I want to make, and VH makes it so darn easy with their array or recipes and sauces to try out. What busy mom on the go doesn’t love that?

We recently had an opportunity to check out some new VH sauces for a shoppertunity for #cbias (collective bias) and so we ventured to our local Walmart where I knew I would find what I was looking for. My goal was to make sweet and sour meatballs for dinner, to pour over a bed of rice with California veggies – YUM!

We got to Walmart around 4:30 in the afternoon. Not a bad time to go. It wasn’t extremely busy, which is always nice when shopping especially with the boys. They get so bored quickly when shopping for stuff.  JJ helped me picked out the hamburger which is sold in chubs for $9 which gives you about 3.5 lbs of lean beef.

Next we wandered through the isles looking for VH Sauce. Our Walmart recently went through some renovations, so now we have more food, meat and poultry and more isles to choose from. The VH Sauce wasn’t in the Sauce Isle, it was over in the Asian Isle where you can find the soy sauce. And man was there a ton of VH to choose from!

I found the Sweet n’ Sour Sauce and grabbed a bottle and then we headed to pick up some rice to complete our meal. Of course the boys couldn’t help themselves. We had to get some chips and a movie to watch for tonight, before heading to the cashier to pay for our items.

The line-ups weren’t bad. Our cashier rocked. He actually allowed Trace to go behind the counter and ring in our items. Trace was so thrilled!  He looked super cute, too. We took our stuff and headed home so I could begin making dinner before hockey.

Sweet n’ Sour Meat Balls With VH Sauce

  • Ingredients
  • 2lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 bottle of VH Sweet n’ Sour Sauce
  • 3 cups of White or Brown Rice
  • 3 cups of California Frozen Vegetables
  • 3 pinches of steak spice
  • 1 tin of vegetable soup (strained)
  • Crackers
  • 1 egg

Directions

Combine beef, egg, crackers, strained vegetable soup and steak spice into a bowl and mix it up with your hands. Add in half a jar of sweet of sour sauce and mix together again. Roll into meatballs and place onto a baking dish. Place in the oven at 425 degrees for forty minutes.

In a wok or wok style frying pan add frozen vegetables, 1/2 cup of water and the other half jar of VH Sweet n’ Sour sauce. Cook on medium and steam until vegetables are tender.  Cook Rice in a separate pot until tender.  Serve meat balls and veggies over the rice. Makes 6 – 8 servings. Cook time forty minutes.

Enjoy!
